About 4Tex, ConteXt, MP, mproof

Hello
I found some manual (metafun-p.pdf) from Pragma with the text:
\starttext
\startuseMPgraphic{dummy}
   fill fullcircle  scaled 5cm withcolor red ;
\stopuseMPgraphic
\useMPgraphic{dummy}
\stoptext
This text is supposed to work with Context. It compiles ok. But when I
want to look at it with Acrobat 4.0, it tells me it can not find
mpgraph.1
But that file is created  and in the same directory as the tex file
which I used to compile.
Could anyone give me  a hint?
Also: when I use the mp-tool from 4TeX and a file examples.mp (from TeX
live), it complains with MP-output about not finding mproof. It makes
however all the files needed.
I just want to make a simple logo for myself. Why does this 4TeX stuff
not work with all the help files needed?

Metapost generates encapsulated postscript---see manual. You
have to convert the encapsulated postscript file mpgraph.1
to pdf. You can use epstopdf fpor this purpose.

If you use pdftex and add either as topline 

% output=pdftex 

or inline 

\setupoutput[pdftex] 

or when running texexec add 

--pdf 

you will get a pdf file directly. 

When you want to convert an stand alone mp graphic output file to pdf, you
can use

mptopdf filename  [or a pattern] 

on the metapost page at our site you can find more about that. Yet another
option is 

texexec --pdf --fig=c filename 

which you can use to make a file with collections of mp graphics.

you have to update texexec, since on 4tex the old version [binary based on
module source] is used which is completely unaware of metapost etc.

There is also 

\starttext 

\startMPpage 
 some code
\stopMPpage 

\stoptext 

This crops the page to the image, which for a logo is probably what you want.
