Actually your previous version had crop marks as well, but they were 
off the page on three sides (the one in the lower right should have 
been visible).

Probably Hans knows best about pdftex so it probably makes sense to 
ask it here, but there also is a "real" pdftex list, hosted by the 
majordomo of tug. Just send a message to majordomo@tug.org with body:
