I did that already (some goes back to 2003) and didn't found any relavant information, only some general stuff like "use usepath and/or usesubpath" and "path search depth can be configured". Isn't very useful.
 
From grepping the source code I found some reference to luatex code, which isn't my cup of tea.
 
I'm sure other people on this list would also welcome these commands being properly documented.
