I've also solved my problems with installing Context on my tetex system. cont-xx.ini files were missing, so that fmtutil could not find them. Due to Taco's advice, I've made them and that works. Due to my version of pdftex, I'm currently unable to output in pdf, but that's no problem during testing time. I'm highly impressed by the system. Perhaps this makes Linux ready for DTP. I've seen in the beta manual that footnotes at the end of a chapter should already be possible. Therefor, implementation of endnotes seems not necessary. I'll try this out.
