Dear syndicate,

I heard that there is a bibtex module for context somewhere, but I could
not find an m-bib module anywhere in tex/base. Is there a bibtex how-to
for ConTeXt anywhere? I have a LaTeX file to insert in the journal and I
don't want my *.bib database to go to waste;-)

Secondary question: Assuming that there IS a bibtex module, can I place
separate bibliographies from a single .bib file for separate chapters.
That is, from a single journal.bib, can I generate a separate
bibliography for each article?

You have to download it.  The module is written and maintained by Taco 
Hoekwater, and I assume this is where to find the current version (??):

Don't know.  I haven't used it much; am waiting for the XML-based 
rewrite of the module ;-)

This *should* work. There is even some explanation on how to go about
in in the documentation, I believe. Sorry but I am otherwise occupied
so I cannot spare too much time for m-bib at the moment.

I've gotten m-bib to work so far. I really like how easy it is to set up the
bbl file is set up so I may be retiring my BibTeX database completely! The only
major glitch is that apparently m-bib cannot directly sort the bbl file
alphabetically.

I have a more important question for now: Is there an argument to \cite for
subdivision references? In LaTeX we have, e.g, \cite[p.\~23]{key}. In m-bib we
have \cite[key] but no way to include the `p.\~23'. What is the way users of
m-bib get around this? Is there any way to format subdivision references in
m-bib?

Finally, why is m-bib not included in cont-tmf.zip? It seems important and
sophisticated enough  to include as part of the main distribution.

Since Taco is busy, I'll try to speak for him and hope he doesn't kill 
me!

As I said, I haven't used the module much, because I haven't as yet 
switched to using ConTeXt for academic writing.  If you look through 
the list archive, IIRC, there are a few comments from Taco relating to 
this.

One big reason I guess it's not included yet is that v2 of the module 
will be new and XML based, and apparently more easy to keep in sync 
with ConTeXt as a whole (which I think is difficult now).

Actually, Eckhart Guthöhrlein came up with a suggestion a week or so ago
that does this. He had:

\def\citeplus[#1][#2][#3]{%
  {%
     \setupcite[#1][right={, #3)}]%
     \cite[#1][#2]%
  }%
}

I simplified it to something like:

\def\citepage[#1][#2]{%
  {%
     \setupcite[authoryears][right={, #2)}]%
     \cite[authoryears][#1]%
  }%
}

And it is used something like this:
\citepage[McAd:84][pp.~4--6]


Hope that gives enough of the flavor...
