one option is to use subpage numbers (grep for that in s-pre*)
another option is to use the available stepper (pre-60),
you can try that one with:
texexec --pdf --mode=demo s-pre-61
\StartSteps
.... \FlushStep
.... \FlushStep
\StopSteps
