Hello All!

I try to jump from LaTeX to ConTeXt.

How I can write bilingual texts, ModernGreek-english, in ConTeXt?

Thanks in advance!

Theo.

Hello,

you have to put the command \mainlanguage[greek] before the \starttext.

Wolfgang

\mainlanguage[greek]
\starttext
ÊÜôé ôé ôï åëëçíéêü... \\
{\en Hello World}
\stoptext

Hello,

I just tried it on http://live.contextgarden.net/ and there it is
working. I think the problem is somewhere else. And I don't know why you
get a dvi file. Normally context produces directly pdf.

Wolfgang

I tried it on http://live.contextgarden.net/ and the result is also
negative.
cf. accompanying pdf-file. Did you see Greek letters?

Theo.

Ok,

I had a look around I think I is a bit more complicated than I expected.
There is a "My way" http://dl.contextgarden.net/myway/GreekInContext.pdf
at contextgarden, perhaps this documants helps you to set up your file.

Greetings

Wolfgang

(I use only greek symbols in some math formulas, therefore I'm not an
expert in typsetting greek texts)

Hi,

I'd guess that <http://modules.contextgarden.net/t-greek> is not the
greek you want, but perhaps I am wrong. From the readme:

----
This is version 0.9 of the ConTeXt Greek module for typesetting
ancient (polytonic) Greek in ConTeXt. Copyright (C) 2005 Thomas A. Schmitz.
----

There are no special greek fonts installed on live.contextgarden.net,
so I don't know if greek runs out of the box. If there is anything I
should do to enable greek (or other stuff) on contextgarden.net,
please tell me.

Hello,

there was an article about the greek module that is included in the
ConTeXt distribution in a recent MAPS issue. Willi Egger was so kind
to point me to it and to suggest to install the cbgreek fonts at
live.contextgarden.net. So now you can type in something like

\usemodule[greek]
\starttext

\startgreek
\tt\tfd
p’anta <re~i.
\stopgreek
\stoptext

at live.contextgarden.net.

the apostrophe is wrong, but I have no idea if this is correct:

p'anta <re~i.

works on live.contextgarden.net.

(Whatever the above means - it's all greek to me).

Hi Patrick,

Yes it it is all greek. Still, this is one of the most important
statements of the philosopher Heraclitos. It means litteraaly translated
"everyting flows, alles fliesst". In other words, everything is moving.
So these two words also characterize CONTEXT!

Happy TeXing!
