Hi,

\starttyping needs to be followed by a newline, but macro
arguments cannot contain newlines unless \obeylines is in
effect. So:

   \def\StartLong{\begingroup\obeylines\doStartLong}
   \long\def\doStartLong#1\StopLong{\scantokens{#1}\endgroup}
