Not really, that causes all sorts of problems when trying to get the same font all over the place etc. But you might be interested (assuming you can read or at least decipher French) in the pages at http://melusine.eu.org/syracuse/metapost/galeries/ =96 complete code included. (Those are the predefined macros I was talking about above.)
