Hello,

The following code works both under MikTeX and stand-alone ConTeXt
(however not under live.contextgarden.net), but I don't know how to
enable ec encoding (\ccaron and \Ccaron - č and Č - don't work).

\starttypescript [antykwa-poltawskiego] [ec]
  \definetypeface [antykwa-poltawskiego] [rm] [serif]
[antykwa-poltawskiego] [default] [encoding=ec]
\stoptypescript
\usetypescript[antykwa-poltawskiego][ec]
\setupbodyfont[antykwa-poltawskiego,rm]

The following code

\starttypescript [antykwa-torunska] [texnansi,ec] % already defined in type-exa
  \definetypeface[antykwa][rm][serif][antykwa-torunska]
[default][encoding=\typescripttwo]
\stoptypescript
\usetypescript[antykwa-torunska][ec]
\setupbodyfont[antykwa,rm]

works under stand-alone ConTeXt, but not under MikTeX (and not under
live.contextgarden.net). It complains about "ec-antt.map - cannot open
map file" (and about some other files). It actually doesn't exist
since the files are named "antt-ec.map".

I'm completely lost regarding font problems and would appreciate any help.

Thanks,
    Mojca

this ec-* versus *-ec was one of the last minute changes for tex live
(lm, iwona, kurier, antykwa) so tere can be a mismatch between context
and the rest ... welcome to the font mess

(you can copy the ec-* to *-ec and vise versa to solve this; in due time
it will solve itself)

Thanks for the explanation. I now managed to solve both problems, but
there's still a little question left.

I did that, but it didn't help. The problem was solved when I copied
two files (sy-anttr.tfm and mi-anttr.tfm from your context distr. into
MikTeX). Is this a matter of different naming conventions between
LaTeX and ConTeXt or anything else? I thought that something could be
wrong in MikTeX, but the original package with Antykwa doesn't include
the two tfm files either.

Regarding the problem with missing "ccarons": Despite the fact that
antykwa pol. has ec encoding, quite some glyphs are still missing
there, while ConTeXt thinks that they are present. So I solved the
problem by using the "wrong" encoding (texnansi) again and now ConTeXt
renders those glyphs for me :)

Thanks again,
    Mojca

no, the authors changed the names just before tex live was frozen and
therefore it shows up in all related distributions

- change in map/enc names of lm fonts
- change in map/enc names of antykwa, iwona, kurier
- some changes in names of other files in antykwa, iwona, kurier
- removal of u* files
- probably some more things

since fonts are a sensitive area this means that it can effectively
render a distribution useless;

the difference between latex/context is that (1) context had adapted
those fonts early and has support in its distribution, while latex
depends on the files that ship with the font zips and (2) that some
metrics are maintained by latex related users and therefore changes get
unnoticed for us

If I understand correctly: in type-enc.tex there should be "mi-anttri"
and "sy-anttrz" instead of "mi-anttr" and "sy-anttr", but it cannot be
changed for some time since it would fix the behaviour in other
distributions, but would break the behaviour in TeXLive?
If this is so, it's OK.

No, just silently hoping that if they have made such a magnificent
work with Antykwa Toruńska, they may be planning to do the same with
Antykwa Półtawskiego. But yes, thanks for suggestion - I asked.

It's a pitty that (Con)TeX(t) cannot read and interpret the [messy]
.enc files, at least to be aware of some missing glyphs. :(

Thanks,
    Mojca

broken anyway so don't worry too much about that

If these names refer to names of .tfm files, then no. (If names mean
anything else, then I don't know.)

I wasn't able to find .tfm files for the following:

sy* usually bear an additional "z" at the end and mi* an additional
"i", but please check it again.

what a mess, maybe i should skip next years bachotek in order not to be
exposed to new fonts and just wait till things are settled

i'll send you a file to check (also iwona and kurier); actually i did
check it all just before tex live code freeze time but somehow things
changed anyway
