Hello all,

I am pleased to announce that the new ConTeXt release from Hans Hagen
can be downloaded as of now from the Pragma ADE website or one of its
mirrors.

The current release has version 2006.04.27, and it is on the wiki as

    http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Context_2006.04.27

The most important news items are (I guess)

* the addition of some modules to cont-ext.zip:
   - t-construction-plan
   - t-degrade
   - t-french

* Support for leftpage and rightpage floats.

* Of course, there are also a number of bugs fixed.

Happy TeXing,

Taco Hoekwater

t-french: Looking at
http://dl.contextgarden.net/modules/t-french/doc/context/third/t-french/t-french.pdf
shouldn't the
   \enableregime[utf]
be moved to the bottom (mode = demo)? Otherwise one always enforces UTF,
which one may not want.

t-degrade: Shouldn't one use texutil instead of epstopdf? They should be
able to to the same, but texutil
is in fact installed on ConTeXt systems, epstopdf may not.

Installation (texexec --make --all) yields this:

context : ver: 2006.04.27 15:59
cont-en : ver: 2006.04.06 23:00  fmt: 2006.4.7  mes: english
cont-nl : ver: 2006.04.06 23:00  fmt: 2006.4.7  mes: dutch

Shouldn't cont-en and -nl be 2006.04.27 as well?

indeed, so you have a mismatch (do a recursive delete of the fmt files) and remake again

I think that, although the format files were probably remade, they are
not in the location where texexec finds them, so it is finding the
previous set.

If that's the case, a short-term hack is to figure out where texexec
put the new formats and then copy them over the old formats. However,
that means doing so every time you upgrade, and it's better to let
computers deal with such matters automatically.

Not sure if you are using Unix or Linux, but if you are, these
directions may be useful (even if it's not Debian):
<http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Debian_installation#Steps_to_finish_a_first_context_upgrade>

Or if stupid mail transfer agents break the longish URL above:

<http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Debian_installation>

Hi Johannes,

Please check, whether the new format files are in the correct place.
There were problems with the automatic placeing in the right place. May
be that they are placed in the current path in a separate folder.

Kind regards

Willi

better: newpdftops (will replace pstopdf soon) which is part of context and does a bit more than the converted built into texutil

cd ~/texmf && rm -r *.fmt && texexec --make && texexec --version

Problem solved:
        context : ver: 2006.04.27 15:59
        cont-en : ver: 2006.04.27 15:59  fmt: 2006.4.27  mes: english

Thank you.

Since that worked, the old formats must have been in ~/texmf itself
(not in a subdirectory). Lucky! But if they are in a subdirectory,
then "rm -r *.fmt" won't get rid of them. You'd instead want:

  cd ~/texmf && rm -f `find -name '*.fmt'` && etc.

And it can be worse: my old ones were ~/.texmf-var/web2c/*.fmt
