Sorry for my first post, I have misunderstood the problem...
I have checked your example with texexec --dvi + viewing it in xdvi: no
problem at all...

xdvi does't complain about pk fonts at all... but I cannot say more
about xdvi since I don't use it...
I've just found that http://www.die.net/doc/linux/man/man1/t1mapper.1.html
=> xdvi can use t1 fonts ;)
