concerning xml ... i will update that manual once we have mkiv in place; currently xml processing has some dark corners when tex and xml are used mixed but this will go away; i also have some experimental xml manipulation code laying around (filtering, replacing, etc). In this respect mkiv will be quite powerfull for xml
