* bug with \cite in latest beta (2011.04.13) @ 2011-04-14 9:31 Bernhard Rosensteiner 0 siblings, 0 replies; 12+ messages in thread From: Bernhard Rosensteiner @ 2011-04-14 9:31 UTC (permalink / raw) To: mailing list for ConTeXt users [-- Attachment #1.1: Type: text/plain, Size: 494 bytes --] Hello all, there are some problems with the citecommand in the latest beta. I always get a LuaTeX error... Actually i was in the middle of narrowing down a bug where a \cite command in a caption produced a entry in the publication list of the caption text (and also made that sometimes interaction did not work with some references in the text), so i tried to update to the latest beta and now the document does not compile any more. Please see attached files. best regards Bernhard [-- Attachment #1.2: Type: text/html, Size: 714 bytes --] [-- Attachment #2: temp.tex --] [-- Type: application/octet-stream, Size: 645 bytes --] \setupinteraction[state=start] \startpublication[k=Zelditch:2004te,t=book, a={{Zelditch},{}},y=2004, n=2,s=ZSSF04] \author[]{Miriam~L}[M.~L.]{}{Zelditch} \author[]{Donald~L}[D.~L.]{}{Swiderski} \author[]{David~H}[D.~H.]{}{Sheets} \author[]{William~L}[W.~L.]{}{Fink} \pubyear{2004} \title{{Geometric morphometrics for biologists}} \isbn{978-0-12-778460-1} \city{Amsterdam} \pubname{Elsevier Academic Press} \stoppublication \starttext \input tufte \cite{Zelditch:2004te} \placefigure[middle][]{Testcaption \cite[alternative=authoryear][Zelditch:2004te]}{ {\externalfigure[cow][width=.6\textwidth]} } \page \placepublications \stoptext [-- Attachment #3: temp.log --] [-- Type: application/octet-stream, Size: 7223 bytes --] (/Users/brosensteiner/Documents/ConTeXt_Experimente/Temp/temp.tex ConTeXt ver: 2011.04.13 09:23 MKIV fmt: 2011.4.14 int: english/english system > cont-new.mkiv loaded (/Applications/ConTeXt/tex/texmf-context/tex/context/base/cont-new.mkiv system > beware: some patches loaded from cont-new.mkiv ) system > temp.top loaded system > options > begin of optionfile system > options > system > options > % runtime options files (command line driven) system > options > \unprotect system > options > % feedback and basic job control system > options > % handy for special styles system > options > \startluacode system > options > document = document or { } system > options > document.arguments={ system > options > } system > options > document.files={ system > options > "/Users/brosensteiner/Documents/ConTeXt_Experimente/Temp/temp.tex", system > options > } system > options > \stopluacode system > options > % process info system > options > \setupsystem[inputfile=/Users/brosensteiner/Documents/ConTeXt_Experimente/Temp/temp.tex] system > options > \setupsystem[\c!n=1,\c!m=1] system > options > % modes system > options > % options (not that important) system > options > \startsetups *runtime:options system > options > \stopsetups system > options > % styles and modules system > options > \startsetups *runtime:modules system > options > \stopsetups system > options > % done system > options > \protect \endinput system > options > system > options > end of optionfile (temp.top) fonts > latin modern fonts are not preloaded languages > language en is active {/Applications/ConTeXt/tex/texmf-context/fonts/map/pdftex/context/mkiv-base.map} fonts > preloading latin modern fonts (second stage) (/Applications/ConTeXt/tex/texmf-context/tex/context/base/type-siz.mkiv) (/Applications/ConTeXt/tex/texmf-context/tex/context/base/type-otf.mkiv){/Applications/ConTeXt/tex/texmf/fonts/map/dvips/lm/lm-math.map}{/Applications/ConTeXt/tex/texmf/fonts/map/dvips/lm/lm-rm.map} fonts > defining > forced type afm of stmary10 not found fonts > defining > font with asked name 'stmary10' is not found using lookup 'file' fonts > virtual math > unable to resolve name mapsfromchar fonts > defining > forced type afm of stmary10 not found fonts > defining > font with asked name 'stmary10' is not found using lookup 'file' fonts > defining > forced type afm of stmary10 not found fonts > defining > font with asked name 'stmary10' is not found using lookup 'file' fonts > fallback modern rm 12pt is loaded system > begin file /Users/brosensteiner/Documents/ConTeXt_Experimente/Temp/temp.tex at line 21 (/Applications/ConTeXt/tex/texmf-context/tex/context/sample/tufte.tex) ! I've hit the same problem, though apa doesn't seem to be affected, so in the meantime you can use:
\setuppublications[alternative=apa]

Anyway strange. I believe that \cite{reference} is incorrect in ConTeXt. The general rule is {} for anything that will actually be typeset as text, and [] for parameters that have a semantic meaning for ConTeXt. Hence things like \section[sec:some-reference]{The visible section title}. (The above is my understanding but I'm sure someone will correct me if it's wrong.)
