Hi!
I just upgraded ConTeXt minimals
(from the status-of-update.lua file:
["info"]={
["comment"]="this file contains the settings of the last 'mtxrun
--script update ' run",
["count"]=3,
["date"]="2010-03-20 09:14:09",
["runtime"]=90.688,
["version"]=0.1,
},
)
When I want to compile the file on which I am working, I get:
C:\Programmes\ConTeXt\tex\texmf-mswin\bin\mtxrun.lua:2161: stack overflow
So, I am stuck.
What is the solution?
Alain

The same happens to me, but only when I invoke "context.exe". It works fine
with "context.cmd". (The same holds true for mtxrun.exe vs. mtxrun.cmd and
probably others.)
(Using recent minimals from the garden.)
Best Regards,
Andreas.

Same here; as I am using TeXworks, I redefined mtxrun to mtxrun.cmd and
it worked!
I did upgrade to see if the other problem was solved

The bug is still present in 2010.03.18. Here is a minimal example:
\definetype[typeTEX][option=tex, style=type]
\starttext
\placefigure
[top,bottom]
[fig:something]
{Do \type{\undefined} and \typeTEX{\undefined} work?}
{}
\stoptext
which gives .../...

can you add a print in line 2161 and see what path is reported?
function file.collapse_path(str)
print(str)
str = gsub(str,"\\","/")
if find(str,"/") then

will be fixed in next beta

Yes. Same problem on linux-x86_64 after "first-setup-sh".

It seems to get hung up looking for context.lua (which is there, in
C:\contextminimal\tex\texmf-context\context\data\textadept). It ends
up in an infinite loop, saying:
context> MTXrun | fileio: file '\context.lua' is not readable
over and over. I tried updating context minimals by saying:
first-setup.bat --keep
but this didn't fix it.

Thank you, Taco. I'm still going over the font docs. Today:
\starttext
test
\stoptext
results in:
mtxrun.lua:2167: stack overflow
It worked yesterday.
