Perhaps Taco could find time to explore this??
Recently MikTeX enabled ConTeXt using Luatex .60.
I love ConteXt and was using it UNTIL MiKTeX stopped support in version 2.8.
I try to process a ConteXt file now using:
Windows 7, Winedt 6.0 and MikTeX 2.9...
I changed to MKIV within MikTeK and luatex tryies to process a TIK test
file instead of my master.tex file.
Could anyone please advise me on how to get this working? I reallly NEED to
use ConTeXt again to continue to publish my research correctly
Thanks
Barney Schwartz

you need to configure winedt to run
mtxrun --script context ....
on your file

No miktex (no windows at all) here, sorry.
Best wishes,
Taco

I used TeXworks, which was included in the MikTeX distribution with
the configuration shown in the screenshot. Rather minimalistic,
but worked and may be a start.

mtxrun --script texworks --start
will start up a context only version using a dedicated set of
initialization files

Ah. It's here Barney got this advice. Well: no to get context mkiv
running with winedt you only need to set in the execution modes
"context.exe" as the executable for context.
The problem of Barney is that for some reason the doc-folders are
in the context search pathes,
e.g.
I:\Z-Test>context mathtest.tex
...
This is LuaTeX, Version beta-0.60.2-2010100221 (MiKTeX 2.9) (rev
3736) \write18 enabled.
(J:/MiKTeX2.9/doc/fontinst/examples/mathptm/mathtest.tex
and so format generation fails because a context.tex in the
documentation of circuittikz is found.
I have made a bug report at the miktex site, but perhaps you know
what is going on? The search path of luatex itself is fine.

context.exe is just a stub that effectively calls
mtxrun.exe --script context
so that's why I suggested it as it might be that there is no context.exe
in the path.

ah, interesting; it makes me wonder why the doc search path is consulted
in the firstplace (maybe mojca can simulate it on her machine as she did
the miktex testing)

Christian thinks that "this is a MiKTeX specific bug. For some
reason the ConTeXt search path (defined in
miktex\config\context.ini) is not honoured."

I have uninstalled and will try to reinstall MikTeX from scratch once
I get to a better internet connection.
But I didn't stumble upon that problem since I didn't install that
package. The author of circuittikz will rename his file and hopefully
the bug in MikTeX will be fixed.
I would be glad to test, but I can hardly respond if I don't know what
is going on or what exactly fails.
Ulrike had a very informative observation - the original report wasn't
enough (just saying that it doesn't work).
Greetings from Wrocław,
Mojca

I made some more test: context finds really everything in the
texmf-trees. I looked a bit at the trace of context and compared it
with latex. The only really obvious difference I see is that
mtxrun.lua loads a texmf.cnf and a texmcnf.lua. The contents of the
cnf is simple: It defines some variables for the roots. E.g.
TEXMFLOCAL=J:/MiKTeX2.9
TEXMF={C:/Dokumente und Einstellungen/..., ....
and some parameters for hash size etc.
texmfcnf.lua contains only
return {
TEXMFCACHE=C:/Dokumente und Einstellungen/Ulle/Lokale
Einstellungen/Anwendungsdaten/MiKTeX/2.9
}
I was wondering a bit if this texmf.cnf resets the pathes but
couldn't confirm it. Even replacing it with another texmf.cnf didn't
correct the search pathes. (And it is regenerated on-the-fly if I
delete it).

I hope there are quotes around that in the actual file.
(the value is a lua string)
Best wishes,

No there aren't quotes. The path is on one line, but apart from this
it is a verbatim copy.

But there really have to be quotes. The way it is now, it will
generate a syntax error (and thus be ignored, I assume).
