Hi there,
some months ago I discovered that one file generated with LuaTeX +
ConTeXt was too slow using mupdf (a PDF viewer).
So I filed a bug (http://bugs.ghostscript.com/show_bug.cgi?id=692500)
and one of the developers replied that the file contained too many
radial shadings, most of which were identical.
I wonder whether this bug still affects to current releases from LuaTeX
and ConTeXt.

it depends how the shading is generated
