The command \definecharacterkerning does almost what I need. However, it breaks the ligatures. \definecharacterkerning [track] [factor=.01] \starttext \showboxes \switchtobodyfont [72pt] final suffocating flange % all ligatures lost \setcharacterkerning [track] final suffocating flange \stoptext Marco ___________________________________________________________________________________ If your question is of interest to others as well, please add an entry to the Wiki! maillist : ntg-context@ntg.nl / http://www.ntg.nl/mailman/listinfo/ntg-context webpage : http://www.pragma-ade.nl / http://tex.aanhet.net archive : http://foundry.supelec.fr/projects/contextrev/ wiki : http://contextgarden.net ___________________________________________________________________________________ ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 3+ messages in thread

If the added space is small it might not justify breaking the ligatures. If it exceeds some threshold, then I totally agree with you.
