I have just downloaded and installed the latest version of Context. It
generates the .fmt .efmt files without any problems. However, I get a
problem when trying to parse files. Here is an example.
\starttext
hello world
\stoptext
generates the following log file.
This is pdfeTeX, Version 3.14159-14f-released-20000525-2.1 (MiKTeX 2.1)

If I comment out line 78 of cont-new.tex then everything works fine. What is
going on, and is it o.k. just to comment this line out?

this looks like the wrong cont-new is loaded [that's web2c: first found,
first used]
So, say
kpsewhich -progname=context cont-new.tex
and see what is reported. remove old files
or, maybe the old format is still used, i.e. efmt files not moved to the
right place [did you run mkteslsr ?]
