If you have a recent context installed, and want some help with defining
layouts, try the following:
% output=pdftex
\useMPlibrary[pre]
\setuppapersize[A4][A3]
\setuplayout[location=middle,leftedge=1cm]
\setupbackgrounds[page][background=pagegrid]
\setupcolors[state=start]
\starttext
\dorecurse{10} {\input tufte \par}
\stoptext
typically one of the features i'd forgotten myself -) Later I will add more
