Hi,
I just found out that GS can pretty well downsample pdf files (on windows:
the latest gsview provides extensive menus for this)
ps2pdf14 -dPDFSETTINGS=/screen -dEmbedAllFonts=true from.pdf to.pdf
embedding the fonts is essential.
For those who use the context figure base mechanism, it is quite nice to
have a 2 Meg downsamples fig base instead of a 50 meg one when testing
files -)
