During a first pass, the dimensions are determined, and this happens 
locally, which means that in this case a 1 by 1 grid is taken; adding the 
third cell kind of obscure this since now the grid is 1 by 3; the solution 
is a small patch in m-chart:

    \ifnum0#2>\FLOWheight\xdef\FLOWheight{#2}\fi}

(there are a few more places, but that's not important now)
