Actually you can say:

%D <table frame="off" background="color" color="white">
%D <tr backgroundcolor="red">   <td>xx</td> <td>xx</td> </tr>
%D <tr backgroundcolor="green"> <td>xx</td> <td>xx</td> </tr>
%D </table>

so, things are possible
