Hi,

the stretch effect does not take the final width of the string into
account. Is this a bug or a limitation? Example:

\starttext
  (\effect[stretch]{fftabc})\par %% “c” collides with “)”
  (\kerncharacters[.05]fftabc) %% no collision
\stoptext

Marco
