function drops.foo(id,width,height,radius)
     drops.generate_default_path(id,width,height,radius)
     context(function() inspect(metapost.variables) end) -- empty here
end

or

function drops.bar()
     inspect(metapost.variables)
end

function drops.foo(id,width,height,radius)
     drops.generate_default_path(id,width,height,radius)
     context(drops.bar) -- empty here
end
