hm, depends on what you consider working,

\usemodule[edtsync] \chardef\editorsyncmode=2

it may work, but it didn't here (maybe because my mac was not up to date or 
maybe i updated wrong)

Richard K will implement the more compact/efficient method and i'll pick up 
the tread once he has done that
