Of course, every problem can be solved.
There's Terminal, indeed. Not so often, but sometimes I like GUI:
e.g. in order to browse a folder structure.
Also, it would not be bad to have spotlight working for all your hard
disk content (at least setting by a preference)
In any case, you can do from Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES
and relaunch Finder.
