You can get the PS name of some font with otfinfo:
-p, --postscript-name
Print each font's PostScript name. For example:
MinionPro-SemiboldItCapt
So:
otfinfo -p AdobeMingStd-Light.otf
which returns
AdobeMingStd-Light
here.
But I would be a bit surprised if you would manage to make it work that way.
