can someone confirm the misbehaviour with ligatures in my example? It’s there since the last three or four betas, perhaps longer.

if it looks as it looks here, it looks strange, but it is ok. :-)
2 is rather extreme. and print looks better than screen, it may be the
renderer...

my png from xpdf shows an horrible page
(also acroread and mupdf show the same).
What are the values for a normal apparence ?

here it looks as attached, maybe you still have the unpatched one?
extend=1, slant=0 would be the normal font.
extend=0.3 (or maybe 0.2) is good for legalese.
