Many thanks for your fast reply, Hans.

Acrobat DC in Windows displays characters fine.

luametatex.pdf cannot be opened with Evince, Acrobat for Linux or xpdf
(e45c09ed2055fab7e8de40fa5f99da4ce46e6849f306a57ac34d99487e025049).
mupdf-gl has to repair the xref.
