Hi Hans,
with the latest beta I still have to patch mtxrun to make xmldir work …
Besides, the root-parameter (--root=some/path) don’t seem to have any impact. As an workaround I’m using
\startmode[*first]
\executesystemcommand
{cd some/path &&
mtxrun
--script tools --dirtoxml
--pattern=*.pdf
--output=some/path/xmldir.xml}
\stopmode
