Try for instance

\placefigure
[] % 1st [] argument is for placing options like: here, force
[anapler] % 2nd [] argument is the label
{caption}   %1st {} argument is caption
{\externalfigure[path-tofigurefile][width=3in]}

Then


\in{Abb.}[anapler]

will (hopefully) work.
