Hello there.

While exporting the ellipses are completely lost. Is there a workaround
for cases like that (I have the feeling this is the top of the iceberg)?

The following minimal example should be clear enough:

%%% start example

\setupbackend[export=yes]

\starttext

Hello\unknown{} world!

\stoptext

%%% end example

Which leads to:

<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' standalone='yes' ?>

<!-- input filename   : prova             -->
<!-- processing date  : Sat Nov  5 15:45:09 2011 -->
<!-- context version  : 2011.11.02 20:10  -->
<!-- exporter version : 0.30              -->

<document language="en" file="prova" date="Sat Nov  5 15:45:09 2011" context="2011.11.02 20:10" version="0.30" xmlns:m="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML">
Hello world!
</document>

Best regards

Not using \unknown but \textellipsis

I'm not sure why you're seeing an iceberg. The \unknown\ commands uses
leaders deep down and those don't get exported. I'll change the
definition to the less efficient variant

\def\doperiods[#1]%
   {\dontleavehmode
    \hbox\bgroup
    \setbox\scratchbox\hbox to \periodswidth{\hss.\hss}%
    \dorecurse{\iffirstargument#1\else\periodsdefault\fi}{\copy\scratchbox}%
    \egroup}

which does export periods (but spaced, as expected).

Hans

Thanks.

Well, it's the feeling you get when you hit a bug while working on a
"Hello world" document after 5 minutes. :-\ I'm truly sorry if it
sounded harsh.
