Hi Jan,

I would say that in this case the answer might be more elaborate than you think. Still, looking at your design I would advise to go for layers. If I understand your comments correctly, then the problems may be caused by the definitions you used. 

I have here a small application for producing CD/DVD labels, booklets and jewel-case inlays. 
I send you the files directly. May be this helps to get grip on the matter.
