If you write such, you must know what you mean.

Compare with HTML:

<p>something</p>
what's this?
<p>other stuff</p>

While in the olde days we used to write

something<p>
other stuff<p>

this incomplete syntax is gone now. Similar to ConTeXt's evolution.

Nothing is ever perfect.
The old scheme wasn't better, see e.g. Lugi's post.
