Sorry, I misunderstood the question. Here is a solution (perhaps there is a simpler solution !):

picture TheImage ;
TheImage := image(
draw externalfigure "cow.pdf";
);
TheImage := TheImage shifted -center(TheImage);
draw TheImage ;
draw (0,0) withpen pencircle scaled .2in withcolor magenta ;
