All seemed fine but the dutch word 'slotscene' with an accent grave on the first e showed, in the PDF file, a capital S with an inverted circonflexe ^ on top of it... I had made sure to have all *.enc encoding files from my earlier successful ConTeXt/PDFtex setup copied to the current setup. And I re-checked my psfonts.inf and psfonts.map files where these .enc files are addressed, even though I don't know if PDFtex uses these at any time. Then I used the patch that Hans Hagen gave in his earlier message: HH> I'll upload a new version. For the impatient: in HH> lang-ini.tex change [...] (by the way, the code in that patch looked similar to the one I replaced with it!) and recompiled, with identical problematic result in this specific word. Planning but not wanting to cause Hans any trouble I double checked the code in my source dodument and saw that in this particular place I used the high-ascii character ASCII-138 instead of \`{e} Convinced that this makes no difference, I changed it to \`{e} anyway and after recompile I saw with great pleasure that the character comes out perfectly now!!! So it seems as long as I stick to conventional ways of describing high ascii output using \" etcetera, I'm safe and successful.
