Do you have a minimal example that demonstrates the behaviour? The
following works for me (but I didn't test it inside project):
\mainlanguage[en]
\enableregime[utf-8]
\usetypescript[heros][ec]
\setupbodyfont[heros]
\starttext
abc £
\stoptext
