marginrules vs. papersize

marginrules vs. papersize

I'm having a problem with marginrules.  If the papersize is a4 they work
just fine.  When I switch to letter paper, however, the rules no longer
line up with the paragraph.

(This is TeX Live 2007 kit in Fedora, fwiw)

mech||mech (Spanish). If you speak these words aloud you will notice
that in spite of the consonants the sound is really very
well described. And what about a cow, does it say boe, mboe or mmmmmm?

1. Everyone knows that a cow says "moo"!  (but not a koe, une vache, ...)

2. Why in the world would anyone like to use \setpapersize[letter]?
