The result was that the format files didn't match the base files (error message). Then I tried ctxtools --update. Now I have the font problem error described below. Here's part of a log file prior to my problem. Not sure how best to proceed. Does ctxtools have an uninstall? Does ctxtools install in texmf.local by default?
