Hi=20 Wolfgang,
In=20 fact, I wanted to know why the instructions to create a new style for=20 the counter were useless (% in the code) .
The settings aren=E2=80=99t useless, the are applied to the counter as inte= nded.

\setupbodyfont[pagella,11pt]

\defineprocessor[ACPROCESSOR][color=3Dred]
\defineconversionset[ACCONVERSION][][ACPROCESSOR->n]
\defineenumeration
=C2=A0 [ex]
=C2=A0 [text=3D,
=C2=A0=C2=A0 distance=3D0.3em,
=C2=A0=C2=A0 width=3Dfit,
=C2=A0=C2=A0 numberconversionset=3DACCONVERSION,
=C2=A0=C2=A0 alternative=3Dserried]

\starttext

\dorecurse{5}
=C2=A0 {\startex
=C2=A0=C2=A0 \input knuth
=C2=A0=C2=A0 \stopex}

\stoptext
I think I understand that headnumber sends settings (text and number) to the=20 \ACFRAME =C2=A0command.
The headcommand is applied to the text *and* counter of the enumeration=20 while numberconversionset
changes on the counter, i.e. when you want a frame only around the=20 counter you have to use
numberconversionset but when you want a frame around both you have to=20 use headcommand.

Wolfgang
