A pitty that laptop screens don't get better (and tend to go to lower 
res instead).

I can only argue that power consumption and resistance to damages are
still important for these devices.
But the idea to have a  2 -- or 4 -- of these LCDs as a replacement of
a traditional book
is not so unbelievable; pdf should look very well (and with flash....)
I think that even OpenType CFF fonts will have  chance.
