I think this agrees (with what I meant). Do you know how how to do
this with \startplacetable and \stopplacetable?

\startplacetable%[force,none]
\starttabulate[|r|l|]
\HL
\NC I want this table \NC aligned in the center.\NR
\HL
\stoptabulate
\stopplacetable

gives a "Table 1" below the table. And uncommenting the [force,none]
part does not seem to help...
