Thanks again for you reply, Hans.
That confirms somehow that I cannot do as I was hoping to. I was
thinking in setting a default color
\startMPinitializations
drawoptions(withcolor darkred);
\stopMPinitializations
since the document I write has about 50 graphics, and most of it will
be in a certain color. But I will simply not set a default color and
use withcolor (or withproperties, since I guess they can hold more
settings like dashing and so on) manually in each figure.
