ConTeXt supports prescripts:
\startTEXpage[offset=1DK]
\m{1 - {}^nC_2\tan^2\theta + {}^nC_4 }
\m{1 - C_2^^n \tan^2\theta + C_4^^n }
\stopTEXpage
If you want them below, use double _.
