Here is what I assume has happened:

Hans gave LMTX its own "luametatex-cache=E2=80=9D directory (around Au= gust 20). Previously, the cache for LMTX still used files under luatex-cach= e, just like MKIV. But since that change, the =E2=80=9Ccontext -=E2=80=94ge= nerate=E2=80=9D call no longer updates files in luatex-cache, only in luame= tatex-cache.

That is not a big problem unless something happens to clear any existing ca= che in that folder (like a re-install from scratch, say).

Normally, one runs =E2=80=9Ccontext =E2=80=94-generate=E2=80=9D to fix the = cache and =E2=80=9Ccontext =E2=80=94-luatex=E2=80=9D to run luatex Combined= , that would be
=C2=A0 =E2=80=9Ccontext =E2=80=94-generate =E2=80=94-luatex=E2=80=9D.
But the problem is that luatex cannot find =E2=80=9Cmtx-context.lua=E2=80= =9D exactly because of the missing cache that we are actually trying to cre= ate with that command line. Missing =E2=80=9Cmtx-context.lua=E2=80=9D is us= ually fixed by running the more basic =E2=80=9Cmtxrun =E2=80=94generate=E2= =80=9D.

However, =E2=80=9Cmtxrun -=E2=80=94generate=E2=80=9D=C2=A0 does not current= ly support a "-=E2=80=94luatex=E2=80=9D argument, so the only way I kn= ow of right now to get the luatex-cache restored|updated is to run the comm= and below.

(Incidentally, this sort of issue is why the core command is not =E2=80=9Cc= ontext -=E2=80=94generate=E2=80=9D but =E2=80=9Cmtxrun -=E2=80=94generate= =E2=80=9D. It is unfortunate that that does not help in this case).
