I'd second this. For some reason PGF/TikZ is rather appealing to me right now. Although clearly MetaPost/Fun can do it all, it is (or at least seems) more daunting. Perhaps the beautiful examples for TikZ are closer to what I need "out of the box" (graphs of various kinds) than the beautiful examples from MetaFun.
