framed broken?

I tried to reproduce a framed example from the context-reference:

Input taken from this example by copying the lines from the reference document:

[width=.2\hsize,height=3cm]
{\cbox to 2.5cm{\hsize2.5cm just\\in the\\middle}}
\stoptext

result is wrong in comparison with the middle \cbox example. The text is not centered.
Is framed at fault here?
