Hi Hans and Mikael,
While investigating the latest version regarding the math environment, I found that the alignments are not correct.
Here is an example:

It appears that the align key does not have any effect. Since for some documents I still use mkiv, I ended up using a definition which depends on whether one is using mkiv or lmtx, as in the example below. I wonder if there is a better solution.
