Easier than counters:

    \definelabel [QQ][text=,headcolor=red]
    \starttext
    \startxtable
       \startxrow
         \startxcell one \stopxcell
         \startxcell two \QQ[there] \stopxcell
       \stopxrow
       \startxrow
         \startxcell alpha \QQ\stopxcell
         \startxcell beta \QQ[here]  \stopxcell
       \stopxrow
    \stopxtable
